Jasmine Finds Wisdom

“Happy is the man who finds wisdom, and the man who gains understanding; for her proceeds are better than the profits of silver, and her gain than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies, and all the things you may desire cannot compare with her. Length of days is in her right hand, in her left hand riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who retain her.” ––Proverbs 3:13-18

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding." ––Proverbs 9:10

Hema is from a town in south east India, and she is going to church on Sabbath. Hema asked her daughter, Jasmine, to go to church with her, but Jasmine always refused. She did not want to go to church.

One day, Jasmine came to her mother in tears, saying that she was not willing to go to school or attend class anymore. Jasmine was not smart in school; she had always struggled to understand and get good grades, and now she no longer understood what the teacher was saying, so she was giving up.

Hema comforted her daughter; she read her a verse from the Bible and prayed with her. Then she told Jasmine to pray and read the Bible before she studied for school.

Hema also told Bible Worker Ambika what was happening with Jasmine. Ambika listened to the story, and she and her friends also encouraged Jasmine to seek God before starting her work or studying.

Jasmine listened to this advice. She began to read the Bible and pray every day before she studied, and it helped her. She started to understand what the teacher was saying in class, and when she went to study outside of class, she understood the content and was able to do her homework.

As her studying improved, Jasmine began to do better in her studies. She passed all of her classes with good grades. Jasmine also decided to attend church on Sabbath with her mother. Praise God!

Today, Jasmine praises God for the blessings He has given her. She knows that it is Him that has given her wisdom in her studies, and it is Him that has done this great work in her life.

Please pray for Jasmine and her mother to continue to put God first in their lives and grow closer to Him.
