Opening 24 New Evening Schools!
Brother Baskar has been one of our evening school coordinators since the beginning of 2020, just before COVID-19 changed the world as we know it. He has seen first hand how God has blessed the evening schools as they have served Indian children and local villagers who lost their jobs because of the pandemic. For many kids, the evening schools have been the only education they have received while government schools have been shut down, and many families' lives have been sustained by the free meals the evening schools have shared.
He has seen many villagers show an interest in learning about Jesus because the evening schools have helped them when no one else would. Word spread and people from other villages started asking when they could have evening schools of their own.
So Brother Baskar started praying, trusting that if God wanted new evening schools to open, He would provide the money and the opportunity.
On our monthly calls with our evening school coordinators, Brother Baskar and Brother Thomas, we have been blown away by the testimonies they have shared with us. Members of the JFA team also started to pray for more evening schools, and at FaithCamp West we shared the cost for opening more schools.
During this time, several donors in the U.S. were also praying about how God wanted them to use their money to build up His Kingdom. God impressed them to give money to start new evening schools, and enough has come in to start 24 more!
We already have 19 evening schools, so these new schools will more than double our total number. While we are still working with our Indian teammates to select the exact locations of the new schools, we can share that we are planning to open schools in new areas, including the state of Punjab in North India. We are also planning to open several new evening schools in Brother Thomas’s area, and 10 in Brother Baskar’s.
Brother Baskar responded with excitement when we told him about the new schools, and he shared how they were such an answer to prayer.
We know our time on earth is short, and we praise God for allowing us this opportunity to share Jesus with more children and families in India.
As we move forward to open these new evening schools, we invite you to keep these requests in prayer.
Please pray for wisdom in selecting the villages where the new evening schools will be held, as well as the new teachers and the evening school coordinators for the new areas.
Please pray for God to prepare the hearts of the villagers in the locations of the new evening schools.
Please pray for Brother Thomas, who is grieving the loss of his mother, and for his wife, Sister Jennifer, who is sick. They have been the backbone of our evening school program for many years.
Please pray for God to continue growing the seeds planted at our current evening schools.
Please pray for God to provide the funds needed for the ongoing operations of both our current and new evening schools.
