Watch Brian and Jessica Atwell share their vision for this property and their family's growing need for space outside the city!
We have been given a $55,000 matching grant to cover up to half the cost of land for an outpost center outside Bangkok, Thailand! For every dollar you give, two dollars will go toward this project to expand ministry and support missionaries in Thailand!!
After months of prayer and searching, Brian and Jessica Atwell, who founded and lead the F5 Center of Influence in Bangkok, have been led to land where they can establish their outpost in the country! This property will secure access to a mountain that will help their rock climbing ministry, give the missionaries a home in the country, and open possibilities for programs like a summer camp and youth retreat. It's an amazing, strategic step for the kingdom of God in Thailand!
We are counseled to work the cities from outpost centers. "It is God’s design that our people should locate outside the cities, and from these outpostswarn the cities, and raise in them memorials for God. There must be a force of influence in the cities, that the message of warning shall be heard.” —The Review and Herald, April 14, 1903.
But we have seen many ministries start by setting up their outpost center in the country but never getting around to really “working the cities” since it’s so inconvenient. Just getting into the city is over an hour’s drive, and if you don’t have a place established, you'll stay maybe a few hours before heading back home. People need to see Christ in everyday life for the concept of Him to make a real impact. Brian and Jessica have done it the right way - they’ve set up their center of influence in Bangkok first! Now that it is established and running, they need a country location to serve the work in Bangkok.
The property they have found is perfectly located at the base of a mountain the F5 team often uses for their weekly climbing trips. The Atwells are hoping to:
1. Secure access to the climbing mountain. Currently they have to cross private property to get to the mountain and they could be restricted in the future.
2. Establish a climbing camp for climbers to stay for extended periods.
3. Create a home where they can have a garden, let the kids play in nature and learn the lessons that God has placed for them there. Right now they have no natural dirt to play in, which is really challenging for their little growing characters.
4. Have a place for a Youth Camp. Currently there is no place in central Thailand for a Youth Camp and this would be perfect.
5. Provide a retreat for city workers to refresh, relax, and reconnect with God.
The Atwells have been looking for property for years, but nothing was ever "right" until just a few months ago, when the Lord led them to a perfect location that is undeveloped (no electricity, no road, etc.) and right at the base of their favorite climbing spot.
The cost of land is not as cheap as you may think for a developing country. With so many people crammed into such a small country, the wealthy land owners can charge a lot. Most of the properties in that area are in the half-a-million dollar range! But the piece the Atwells love is only about $110,000, depending on exchange rates!
Praise God we have a matching grant pledged for the acquisition of this property! Each dollar you give will be doubled up to the total price! That’s right! Your gift will release that same amount towards the goal! That’s a $55,000 matching pledge!
We don’t have a hard deadline to purchase this property other than we are praying that no one else will buy it first.
The property is within the dark outline. You can see the base of the mountain they like to climb on!
Please join us in praying for God’s continued guidance in this process, and for the means to purchase the property as He wills.
