A Possible New Direction?Updates and Prayer Requests for Bangkok Outpost

For the last few months, Thailand has been under a COVID-19 lockdown. In Bangkok, the city where Brian and Jessica Atwell run the F5 Center of Influence, residential curfews are in place, and businesses are closed. The Atwells saw the lockdown coming and were really praying they could be out of the city by then. Praise God, a generous donor provided a matching grant that resulted in the purchase of a beautiful 5 acre plot just 90 minutes drive from the center. Here are a few updates on what they are doing:

After just four months, the Atwells, their staff, and other missionaries, have cleared the property and added a road, rustic staff housing, bathrooms, and shower houses. They have also built a shop and are almost finished building a house that will double as a ministry center.

The Atwells’ original plan was to build a homestay with bungalows for their rock-climbing ministry, but the pandemic has left many Thais without proper food and housing. They are planting a large garden and a variety of fruit trees that will help feed those in need. They also want to build a dorm-like building with bathrooms for those who do not have a place to stay.

The Atwells are praying about whether God is reshaping or modifying their plans for the property. They are also praying for the resources to dig a well. Right now, there is a surface well on the property, but it is not safe for drinking water and dries up quickly during the dry season.

Please pray for the Atwells and their property development. Pray for wisdom in knowing God’s will for the new guest buildings, and pray for the resources to be able to dig a well. Please also pray for God to continue to sustain the financial needs of the F5 Center while it is closed during lockdown and cannot bring income to support the rent and staff salaries.
