Young TV Ministry Viewer Given Full-Ride Scholarship to University
Israel's mother, (Right) gave the family Bible studies.
This entire family was also baptized because of the India TV Ministry. The younger daughter Silaja, third from right, just finished 12th grade.
From the time Silaja first learned about Jesus, she wanted to become a missionary, but she didn’t know how it would be possible. Because of the pandemic, Her father lost his job, and her family has been struggling to get by. Her sister had to stop her medical training because her parents could no longer afford it.
Silaja’s parents were excited when she graduated high school earlier this year, but they worried about her future. How could she continue her education if they had no money?
JFA India Director Israel Prasad was recently invited to participate in meetings with some church officials. During the meeting he shared the family’s story with the participants and they prayed for them.
After the meeting, one of the participants sent a message to Israel saying that he was touched by the story and that he wanted to learn more about the family. He shared that those he works with have the privilege of helping poor girls with their higher education. If Silaja was willing to study theology at Spicer University, they would sponsor 100% of her school expenses.
Israel’s mother, who had given Bible studies to Silaja and her family, told them the news. Silaja was so excited; she never dared to imagine she could go to such an expensive college or study theology. She declared that she was going, whether her parents gave permission or not.
The man who offered the scholarship spoke to the school officials at Spicer, and Silaja was able to send in her paperwork.
She praises God for this opportunity and looks forward to starting her studies soon!
Jesus for Asia would like to help her sister to complete her medical education as well. If you would like to support our Worthy Student Fund for students like Silaja’s sister who are in need, please click here.
Through the working of the Holy Spirit and the dedicated service of the India TV Ministry staff, Silaja and many others like her are not only entering into a saving relationship with Jesus, but they are becoming disciples and missionaries, eager to share Jesus with those they meet.
