Aarav and Chara Discover God’s Love
"Let all that you do be done with love." ––1 Corinthians 16:14
When second grader Aarav and his sister Chara were very young, the government separated them from their parents and placed them into the care of their grandparents. But their grandparents were very poor, and they could not provide everything that Aarav and Chara needed. The kids often went without food, and because their grandparents were so busy trying to earn money, they did not receive the love and attention that they needed.
One day, Aarav and Chara’s grandparents heard about the local JFA Evening School. The school met six days a week and provided tutoring and a free meal to kids who attended. The grandparents were desperate to get their precious grandkids fed, so they sent Aarav and Chara to the school.
Aarav and Chara had never interacted with other children before, so they did not always know how to behave or what to say. When they first arrived at school, they acted strangely. But the teachers were kind to the awkward children with no parents: they talked to them, helped them with their studies, and took time to listen to them.
Aarav and Chara were starving for love, and they began to respond to these acts of kindness. They started to grow close to the teachers and began calling them “Uncle” and “Auntie” like the rest of the children did. They also grew close to the cook and the church elder, and they learned to interact with the other children.
Now, Aarav and Chara love school. Every day they come early and sit on the steps of the church until it is time for the school to open, and every day they are sad when it is time to go home. The evening school provides them with all of the food and love that they are missing at home, and they soak up all of the attention and care they are given by the teachers and staff.

Aarav and Chara's lives have changed because of the evening school. Through the witness of the teachers and the staff, they have learned about the wonderful God who loves and cares for them. God is using the school to show kids the love of Jesus Christ.
Praise God for the work that the evening school teachers and workers are doing, and praise Him that hundreds of children like Aarav and Chara are coming to know Him and His love through the mission of the evening schools!
Please pray for Aarav and Chara, the evening school staff, and the hundreds of other children who attend the evening schools. If you would like to learn more about our Evening Schools or support the work that these schools are doing, please click the button below.
