God is Moving in Rajasthan:

Bible Worker stories from Rajasthan, India

A believer in Rajasthan

Prem sat on a train beside a man he did not know. As they traveled across the dry countryside of Rajasthan, he noticed the man was reading a book he was not familiar with.

“What are you reading?” he asked the man.

“I’m reading the Bible,” the man, JFA Bible Worker Prakash, said.

Prem had heard a little about Jesus before and wanted to learn more. He asked Prakash to share more about the Bible With him. Prakash happily spent the train ride telling Prem more about Jesus. When the two men parted, Prakash offered to give Prem his Bible.

Prem accepted the Bible and started to read. He invited Prakash to his home to teach him more. Prem has been receiving Bible studies for a while and wants to be baptized. He also wants to share what he is learning with others.

Last year, Jesus for Asia hired 10 Bible Workers in Rajasthan, India. Rajasthan is known as the land of the kings and has much cultural significance. For this reason, life for Christians there can be tough (read Jon’s experience below to learn more). Over the past couple of months, the ministries of our Rajasthani Bible Workers have started to bear fruit! We are happy to share a few short testimonies and prayer requests:

Christians in Rajasthan are not allowed to hold open-air evangelistic meetings, so they often share Christ creatively. Ramchandra likes to make friends with people, share health talks, and serve the poor and needy whenever he can. One day, Ramchandra went to the market, where people buy groceries and other household goods. There, he met a man named Anand. They began discussing religion, and Ramchandra shared his faith with Anand. They began to meet regularly, and Anand started to attend Bible study classes; now, he has decided to be baptized and is praying for his family to accept Jesus.

A young lady was unemployed and looking for a new job. When Pradeep met her, he told her how she could trust God to help her with her problems. He prayed with her to find a good job, and she did! Now, she wants to learn more about the God who answered her prayers. Her father does not want her to follow Jesus. Please pray for God to change his heart and lead him to Christ.

Many children in Laxman’s village love to hear him tell stories about Jesus! Please pray for their faith to grow and for them to be baptized when they are old enough.

Rupali, a young Hindu girl, started to attend Ram’s SDA church with her friends. Her parents, however, advised her to stop going and not to accept Christianity. Despite their warnings, Rupali continued to attend church for months. She loved learning about Jesus and sharing what she learned with her friends. Rupali told Ram she wanted to be baptized, and eventually, she was! Her parents were not very happy about it. Please pray for her family to accept Jesus as their Savior.
