Only Jesus Brings Peace

A JFA Bible Worker studies with some ladies.

Greetings in the name of Christ. I'm Promila, a Jesus for Asia Bible Worker. I want to share a story from the ministry work I have been doing for the past five to six months.

The village I have been visiting is entirely new to me—the people, the village, and everything else. Once, I went to a particular home, and when I was there, I could feel an evil spirit's presence there. Lakshmi, the lady of the house, invited me in, had me sit down, and then said, "I'm very troubled; I don't have peace in my heart."

She started sharing about her family: her husband and three daughters. As I sat there listening to her, I started to look around. The home was full of statues and pictures of different idols.

"I'm really troubled in my soul; I'm very restless," she said. "I have been to many physicians seeking help, but they couldn't help me. I have heard about the Christian mission but have never been to any of their places. When I heard you were a Christian, I brought you to my home."

I was happy that I got this opportunity to bring the truth of Christ to her. We started talking. She told me that her family could not live in peace in their home; they heard strange noises at night that made sleep difficult. She shared that someone was often sick in their home; sometimes it was her, sometimes her husband, and sometimes her kids.

"I serve so faithfully and do all the rituals, yet the gods don't watch over me," she said.

She asked if I could do anything to help her find peace and that she would appreciate whatever help I could give. She shared that she had heard about Jesus Christ but only a little.

I was happy to hear her request. I asked her if she believed in Jesus. She said that she believed something good could happen in her life. I told her that of myself I couldn't do anything for her. Only her faith in Jesus would heal and save her.

"Whatever trouble and problem you have, it will all be solved," I said. I prayed for Lakshmi that day and told her I would return to her home again.

Two days later, I visited her home with my team, and we had worship at her home. We sang songs and read the Bible, specifically Luke 4:31, where Jesus rebuked the evil spirit. We prayed for each member of the family and left.

As our visits continued, Lakshmi's family started to share how their lives were changing. The noises that kept them awake at night were gone, and the scared feeling was no longer there. Their children were not sick often, and they did not have to run to others for help anymore. "We are doing really well. Please do keep coming and praying for us," they said.

When we had Bible studies and worships with Lakshmi's family, their neighbors often came too. My team and I were grateful for the opportunity to share Jesus with so many villagers.

Lakshmi's family realized they were only doing well through the power of Jesus, and their faith continued to grow stronger. Now, they are ready to accept Jesus!

Thank you to each donor of JFA for supporting my ministry in reaching these people.

Praise God for freeing Lakshmi and her family from the oppression of the enemy and leading them to Christ through Promila and her team. Please pray for Lakshmi's family as they continue growing spiritually and for their neighbors to make decisions for Christ.
