MISSIONS THAT THE HOWELLS ARE INVOLVED IN…

  • Cambodia Boarding Academy

Cambodia is 95% Buddhist, with only 3,000 active Seventh-day Adventists in the country of 18 million people. Many of our young people in the Cambodian Adventist church do not have the option of…

  • Cambodia Teacher Training

We are building a high quality boarding academy in Cambodia. However, there is no one qualified to be the teachers in this school. And the colleges in Cambodia do not allow for Sabbath observance.

  • Howell Family Project

Lloyd and Natalie Howell, with their younger daughter Alysa, have been working with the Cambodia Adventist Mission to build a primary school and boarding academy, which are desperate needs for the fledgling Cambodian Adventist Church. They are also helping to train teachers who will work at the academy when it is finished.

WHAT BROUGHT THE HOWELLS TO THE MISSION FIELD?

Natalie Howell and her family became missionaries in Cambodia through FaithCamp. Natalie Wood (JFA treasurer) had invited Natalie Howell to come for several years, but she never remembered until 2018. At FaithCamp, Natalie learned many things she hadn’t known about the need for missionaries in Asia.

Natalie had always encouraged her daughters to go on mission trips, but during a meeting on  Sabbath, God had a message for her. “It’s ironic that you’re telling your oldest daughter to go into the mission field when I have called you, and you have not gone,” He told her. Natalie was convicted.

At the end of the meeting, Natalie flew out of her seat to talk to Jesus for Asia president Jon Wood. “Where do you want me to go?” she asked.

Jon discovered she had just the credentials needed to help start a much-needed school in Cambodia, and she and her family were recruited to join that project.

Cambodia was not the Howell family’s first choice, but they chose to follow God’s leading, and He has continually opened the way before them.

Since moving to Cambodia, the Howells have been preparing to build the school. There are not enough trained Adventist teachers in Cambodia, so they have been helping future teachers for the school to get ready to attend an Adventist college outside of Cambodia. They are also working on learning the Khmer language.
