A Note from the President

Praise God our local missionaries are all still well.

Praise Him that all our foreign missionaries are well. 

All our Bible workers, teachers, coordinators, pastors and missionaries are already in their places and working to help people find light and health. 

This pandemic does not need to slow down the spreading of the Gospel! In fact it provides opportunities for words of hope to those who are fearful, prayer for those who are sick, and healing for God’s power to shine.

So let us exercise our faith by continuing to support these faithful workers as the enter the darkest parts of the world and bring light and life and health. We may not see the reward now, but there will come a day when we KNOW that every sacrifice was worth it.

The past few weeks have been nothing like what I’ve experienced at any time in my life. As I have watched the general response in our American society to COVID-19 (Coronavirus), I have been surprised. I guess I really shouldn’t have been, but I have. 

I’ve been surprised at the level of fear that skyrocketed in our population. I’ve been surprised by those who are so focused on themselves and their immediate families that they have stripped store shelves and made it challenging for others to get supplies. I’ve been surprised by those who have attempted to profit in the midst of a crisis at a cost to others who are having difficulties.

As I pondered what is happening all around me, I realized that the concept of taking enough and leaving some behind so others, too, can have some is a Biblical concept.

Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. (Philippians 2:3)

Making sure others are OK even if we are facing difficulties ourselves is a Biblical concept.

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. (Galatians 5:10)

And, seeing the adversities and yet not fearing because we have a heavenly Father who loves us is a Biblical concept. 

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. (2 Timothy 1:7)

These are truths I have known and held to. They have been with me for so long that I have grown to assume that others know these things and will be guided by them. But that’s not true.

So many people today are reacting to a crisis without the necessary tools to help them handle the fear and uncertainty. 

This is the time for the church to arise and shine. This is an opportunity for us to model what a life connected with Jesus looks like for those around us. This is the time for us to pray that God will open doors for us to be His hands and feet to serve others when the norm is to focus on self, looking out for number one.

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:14-16)

Who around you is in need? Who around you is having difficulty getting to the store or finding needed items on empty store shelves? What do you have in your hand that you can use to bless someone else, even if it means having less for yourself and your family?

Let’s pray for divine appointments today. Let’s use this time to be a blessing to others here and around the world. Let’s lift up Jesus. Let’s build His Kingdom.

Then the King will say to those on His right hand, “Come, you blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world . . . Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me.” (Matthew 25:34, 40)

Matthew 24:14 says" This Gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world and THEN the end will come." 

Here at Jesus for Asia, we believe that the most effective way that we can make an impact on the suffering of the world is to send the Gospel to the darkest areas of our planet and watch it do its work. This world's problems will continue to get worse and worse, but we have a hope in a God who loves us and who will bring an end to all pain and suffering through people that cooperate with Him.  Let's share that hope while we still can. 

"And let us not be weary in well doing; for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." (Galatians 6:9)

The Lord has blessed the JFA office with a fresh supply of toilet paper!
