Finally Back to Battambang: Update from the Howell Family

image.jpegimage.jpeg

Just a little update. Our family has made it to Cambodia safely. Entering the country was an ordeal in itself. We were greeted by people in hazmat suits and ushered in single-file lines to a place to be tested for COVID-19. We were then escorted onto a bus to be taken to a hotel for quarantine.

At the hotel we were blessed to get a room with three beds so that we all could be together. It was not a very large room, and it had one small window with bars on it. We were to stay in this room for the next two weeks. No fresh air or sunlight except what could be obtained from the one barred window. We basically only opened the door to receive meals (which were placed on a stool outside the door three times a day) and to put out trash.

Meals in quarantine cost $10 each, as stated by the Cambodian Government. This breakfast consisted of raisin toast, milk, and ketchup.Meals in quarantine cost $10 each, as stated by the Cambodian Government. This breakfast consisted of raisin toast, milk, and ketchup.

When we were finally out and ready to head to Battambang we were informed that the city we were in (Phnom Penh) was shut down for a week. So we had to get another hotel until the city opened up for us to travel. That one-week shutdown quickly turned into a three-week shutdown.

Praise God for His goodness and mercy. He carried us through this time and afterward brought us safely to Battambang. We are currently in Battambang and trying to get settled in. We are having some visa complications so please keep us in your prayers. Thank you to all for your prayers,

From the Howell family with love,
God Bless
