Children's Prayers Prevent Amputation(After being hit by a bus!)A JFA Evening School Story

Evening School kids praying

Every day, Pumar rode his bike to and from work along the busy streets of his hometown in India. One day, while riding home from work, Pumar was hit by a bus. He survived but broke both his legs in the terrible accident.

Immediately, he called his wife, Jennifer, who was teaching at a JFA Evening School nearby. He asked her to come and help him, but before that, he had another request. Although he was not a Christian, he had heard many stories of God answering the children's prayers. Could Jennifer pray and ask the children to pray for him, too?

After praying, Jennifer and some of the children rushed to the accident site. Pumar was so happy to see the children there and again asked for their prayers. In front of the gathering crowd, the children prayed to the Living God on Pumar's behalf.

At the hospital, the doctors assessed Pumar's injuries. They worried at what they saw; his legs were so damaged. They would never heal properly. The doctors gravely informed him that his legs should be amputated.

The doctors' report greatly saddened Jennifer, but she did not lose faith. She asked the doctors not to amputate. She and the children continued to pray. They had confidence that God would restore Pumar's legs, even though it was medically impossible.

According to Jennifer's wishes, the doctors did their best to help Pumar without amputation. When the time came to check on his progress, they were shocked at the results. The bones were healed and set perfectly in place. They had never seen anything like it, they told Pumar.

Jennifer was overjoyed. God had answered their prayers!

Now, Pumar continues to ride his bike to work like normal. He praises God for healing him. He is also thankful for the support of the Evening School. He has started reading the Bible and attending church regularly. Please continue to keep Pumar and his family in your prayers.

JFA Evening Schools give Indian children an opportunity for free tutoring, food, and spiritual education. $7 a month covers the cost for a child to attend an evening school. If God is leading you to support this valuable ministry, please click the button below.
